One of the best things that you can do is to encourage people to pass laws that ban the use of coal to produce electricity.
Coal is contaminated with radioactive Uranium and Thorium.
When coal is burned the some of the Uranium and Thorium go up the smokestack with the fly ash.
The remaining Uranium and Thorium is concentrated in the coal ash.
In some ash the concentration of radioactive Uranium is so high that is has been considered as a source for Uranium for nuclear power plants!
The coal ash is piled on the ground in enormous mounds.
The dust blows off the mound and further contaminates the countryside with radioactive Uranium and Thorium.
Also, the radioactive Uranium breaks down. One of the products of that breakdown is radioactive Radon gas which drifts out to the atmosphere.
If you can help stop the use of coal as a fuel that is one of the best things that you can do for the environment.
